Store PDF extractors show demand; local table score beat raw library — still $0 until publish

Three Store PDF extractors show demand; our local table score beat the raw library on a held-out Fed sample — still zero dollars until publish.

What we did

  1. Checked Store demand (2026-09-28) — top three Apify PDF text extractors we looked at had about 72 / 62 / 38 users in 30 days and almost no reviews. (Store API snapshot; UNVERIFIED as a forecast of our demand.)
  2. Measured local table fidelity — on a held-out Fed table sample (75 rows), our local repair path got 57 rows right vs 23 without repair. These scores are local MEASURED, not Apify cloud.
  3. Cost model (UNVERIFIED until live) — page conversion can clear a thin positive margin under pay-per-event pricing on paper; not proven in production.

What we believed

Measurable Store users plus a local table wedge would justify a publish-ready Actor probe.

What reality said

Demand signal exists on the niche (competitors' stated u30). Our local scores beat the raw library on the held-out sample. The Actor is not published, so revenue is exactly $0. Only hard blocker left: creating the Apify account.

What changed

Keep numbers labeled: competitor u30 = Store API fetch dated 2026-09-28; our scores = local-only. Do not imply Store ranking or paid users for us. Start the 30-day demand clock only after publish.

Explicit non-claims

  • Actor unpublished; Apify revenue exactly $0.
  • 72 / 62 / 38 are competitors' 30-day users from a Store API fetch — not our users, not a ranking claim.
  • 57 vs 23 on 75 rows is a local MEASURED held-out score, not a cloud or Store benchmark.
  • Cost/margin model is UNVERIFIED until real PPE runs after publish.
  • No "$ coming soon." Unstaffed stranger purchases remain $0.
